Testimonials

“Dr. Roy Collins’ presentation as a keynote speaker at our Type One Diabetes Virtual Round Table was nothing short of inspiring.

He really spoke from his heart and own experience as a person with Type One who understands the struggles and frustrations with the disease. Through those struggles he showed how he and so many others are able to persevere through the battle and reach their goals. With mental health being a very important and relevant topic for this community we serve, he did an excellent job relating to the attendees and answering their questions with ease.

“Dr. Collins spoke to my high school juniors in the fall of 2020 which put his talk in the middle of a pandemic and compulsory virtual learning.

Students loved his real-life and well told stories of being a student athlete, obstacles he faced and the innovative paths he took to overcome them. As a teacher, I appreciated how he could thoughtfully and fluently navigate the range of topics his talk and the kids' questions covered. He was in one moment Dr. Collins the academic and achiever and the next moment Roy the relatable and vulnerable adult. Students were inspired that they, too could be both. His talk was an excellent classroom experience I would encourage others to have as well.”
